Valentine Ozigbo Calls For Unity, Objectivity As South East PDP Chairman, Ali Odefa, Visits Anambra

By Marlikberry,

Valentine Ozigbo, a leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Anambra State, has urged the party’s leaders, stakeholders, faithfuls, and his fellow aspirants to eschew division and embrace pragmatism as the party gears up towards the 2021 gubernatorial election.

The respected business mogul and philanthropist made this known on Monday, January 4, 2021, during the visit of the Chairman of PDP’s South East caretaker committee, Ali Odefa to Anambra State.

At the event, held at Marble Arch Hotel, Awka, Mr Ozigbo stressed on the importance of cohesion within the party.

According to him, the PDP has failed to win the governorship election in the state for the past 16 years because party members have failed to rally support for the party’s preferred candidate. He condemned “this unfortunate trend” and appealed to aspirants, and stakeholders to wholeheartedly throw their weight behind any aspirant who emerges victorious at the party’s primaries.

Still on the issue of primaries, Ozigbo said it was important for party delegates to be objective and prioritize competence when selecting the party’s flag-bearer. He cautioned that failure to do so would translate to another woeful outing at the polls.

In his remarks, the former Governor of Anambra State and Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 general election, Peter Obi advised aspirants to deepen their political play, urging them to focus on garnering the support of the locals who would eventually make up the large bulk of the electorate.

While addressing the audience, the Anambra State Chairman of the party, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu restated his commitment to ensuring that the party primary is free, fair, and devoid of rancour.

He also expressed optimism that the PDP would reclaim the top seat in the state in the November election.

In his submission, the South East Caretaker Chairman of the party, Ali Odefa, echoed the assurances of Chief Nwobu that the primaries would be free and fair, adding that a transparent primary election is essential to inspiring confidence.

Odefa’s working visit to Anambra State is part of activities towards enduring a successful outing of the PDP in the governorship election billed to hold in November 2021.

Youth of Anambra State please let us join hands together with our mind and vote for our choice for better tomorrow.. our vote is needed my people..
