‘KAYAYEI’S’ THREATEN MASSIVE DEMO OVER “BLOODY WIDOW” TAG

The Association of Kayayeis’ in Ghana has condemned the
Minority Caucus for walking out during the swearing-in ceremony
of the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon
constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan on Tuesday, 5th January,
2019 and also describing her as a “bloody widow”.

According to the Minority MPs, they boycotted Lydia Seyram
Alhassan’s swearing-in because they did not want to give
credence to her victory in the by-election on Thursday, 31st
January, 2019, which was characterized by violence.
Heavily-armed National Security operatives shot and wounded
supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress at
the private residence of the party’s candidate about an hour into
the by-election last Thursday.
Speaking on Peace FM News, Thursday, February 07, 2019,
leader of the association, Hajia Adiza popularly known as ‘Zongo
Pioneer’ said “All my followers are sad. I am really sad because
I am also a widow. What the minority did was wrong and must
be condemned by all.”
She however threatened to gather her members to demonstrate
against the minority if they fail to apologize to Lydia Seyram
Alhassan.
“We will stage a massive demonstration against the NDC. We
will campaign against them to let women vote against them in
2020,” she threatened.
