Restoring the People’s Confidence: A New Chapter for Anambra Begins
By Amb. Justin kingland
The strength of good governance lies in presenting leaders who truly understand what governance means and are committed to serving the people. Awka North and South had long desired effective representation, and that dream came alive through Prof. Lilian Orogbu. Today, she has become a symbol of productivity and accountability and good governance, commissioning project after project and ensuring that government presence is felt at the grassroots.
On Tuesday, I was privileged to join His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, in a campaign visit for George Moghalu, the Labour Party governorship candidate for Anambra State. It was not just another political outing, it was a journey that reminded everyone of what true leadership and continuity mean.
The day began in Achalla, where a newly completed classroom block was commissioned. A massive project by Prof Lilian Orogbu (Ada Di Ebube) Madam Project, member representing Awka North and South. The joy and excitement of the people were visible everywhere. Afterwards, we paid a courtesy visit to Eze Ndi Achalla, Igwe Ositadinma Sunny Nwokedi (Uthoko Na Eze VI).
It was a moment of warm interaction and deep appreciation, the people of Achalla still hold Peter Obi in very high esteem, remembering how most of the major roads in their community were built during his tenure as governor. Wherever those roads stopped was where his tenure ended, and they believe George Moghalu will continue from there.
From Achalla, the delegation moved to Urum, where another classroom block was commissioned. There, we were warmly received by Igwe B. O. Nweke, the traditional ruler of Urum community. The visit symbolized a partnership between leadership and community development.
Our next stop was Amawbia, where yet another classroom block was unveiled. The excitement of the community was contagious as we later visited the Okpalaigwe of Amawbia, Igwe Nnaemeka Nworah-Nmulokwu. The discussions centered on development, peace, and the vision of a better Anambra.
The journey continued to Nibo Town, where we paid a courtesy visit to Igwe Michael Chukwuemeka Ngene (Ezeike IV). His words of encouragement and blessing added a sense of unity and purpose to the entire outing.
Throughout the day, Mr. Peter Obi demonstrated once again his humility and people-first approach, while George Moghalu’s message of competence, capacity, and continuity resonated with everyone we met. Together with Prof. Lilian Orogbu (Ada Di Ebube), Madam Project, the mission was clear: to bring good governance closer to the people and to build upon the solid foundation already laid.
It was indeed a remarkable day, one filled with hope, inspiration, and renewed faith in a better Anambra.
