Valentine Ozigbo, a Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, has congratulated the government and people of Anambra State on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the state’s creation.
In a statement made available to journalists from Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area, the frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant hailed the industrious spirit of the people of Anambra which, according to him, as produced the many prominent and prospering sons and daughters of the state.
“Since the creation of our beloved state in 1991 from the Old Anambra State, we have experienced enviable advancement as a people,” Mr. Ozigbo said in the statement signed by Ephraim Adiele, a media aide.
“Ndi Anambra have always been an embodiment of the motto of the state and have repeatedly proven to be the light of the nation in whatever field they find themselves,” the respected business leader continued.
“In business, sports, education, and the arts, Ndi Anambra have proven to be trailblazers, setting the pace and setting standards wherever they find themselves. It is, therefore, no surprise that our state is home the highest number of documented billionaires in the country.
“The many illustrious sons and daughters of Ndi Anambra who have recorded landmark achievements both home and abroad indicate that we as a people are doing something right,” he said.
Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, also remarked that for Anambra to step into the next level in its unfolding of greatness, it is pertinent for the people to imbibe the culture of excellence and the philosophy of continuous improvement from the grassroots and classrooms.
He also called for stronger political leadership in the state while commending all past leaders of the state for their sacrifices and contribution to the development of the state.
“Worthy of commendation are the men and women who have led our state in different capacities in the past. I commend former governors Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Chris Ngige, and Peter Obi for their contributions to advancing the fortunes of our dear state.
“I also salute the great giants from Anambra like Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Professor Dora Akunyili, Chief Osita Osabede, Professor Chinua Achebe, Father Cyprian Michael Tansi, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Mr. Cyprian Ekwensi, Chief Oliver De Coque, Chief Emeka Odumegwu Ojuwku, Professor Chike Obi, and a host of others who left a remarkable legacy in service, courage, and service to humanity for us to follow,” he ended.
