Gunmen Kill 123 In Fresh Kaduna Violence

Rampaging gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Tuesday killed about 123 people in seven villages in Sanga local government area of Kaduna state barely 24 hours after 38 people were killed by gunmen in two villages in the same local government.

Some Unknown Gunmen had on Monday night invaded Kabamu and Ankpong villages in simultaneous attacks which threw the entire local council into pandemonium.

A vigilante leader in the area who spoke to Channels Television on Phone gave the name of the affected villages, as Kobin, Dogon-Daji, Naidu, Kabamu, Hayin -Kwanta, Kabani and Gani.

He said that 38 people were killed in Kobin, 21 in Dogon- Daji, 16 in Naidu, 30 in Kabamu, 5 in Hayin Kwanta, 4 Kabani and 9 in Gani, saying that most of the villages are so remote and don’t have the presence of policemen.

Although the spokesmen of the state Polce command, Aminu Lawan, disclaimed any report of a fresh attack, the local government council has imposed a 24-hour curfew in the affected areas.

The Chairman of the council, Emmanuel Adamu, in a statement said that the curfew was imposed to forestall further loss of lives and restore normalcy.

He urged the people of the area to remain calm as security operatives were on top of the situation.
