Disquiet as extended tenures given heads of Civil Defence, Immigration, Prisons end,
By Marlikberry,
There is palpable uncertainty as the extended tenures of some heads of paramilitary agencies in Nigeria end in a short time.
The chiefs of the outfits, under the Ministry of Interior, have exceeded mandatory ages and years of service, just like the Nigerian Military Service Chiefs.
They are Controller-General, Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Jaafaru Ahmed; Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede; Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Muhammadu Gana.
In 2019, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, extended their terms by six months.
PRNigeria reports that the minister is believed to be planning to recommend a further extension, a situation that has caused disquiet and tension. All we need is good security to protect our citizen my people.
