Dangote to Give the Abuja Stadium a Facelift, Minister of Sports Shares
It was Ayo Sogunro who described Nigeria as the Federal Republic of Dangote, and, honestly, maybe he’s not that far off.
After it was revealed by a presidential spokesperson that the richest man in Africa (Aliko Dangote) will be “exporting rice soon,” the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has shared that he will also be giving the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja a facelift.
According to The Cable, Dare said this while speaking to journalists on Thursday.
Yes, Abuja is coming back up,. Already we have gotten Dangote, I can say that he has agreed to bring back the Abuja football pitch, the light and score board. Work will start in another one week or two weeks. And we will use the same model, we will adopt the pitch model for several of our stadia. Atleast, the three other big ones.
We are looking at between now and March we should have four big stadia, football pitches, FIFA standard. And I think if given time, within a year this country should be ready to host virtually any FIFA soccer tournaments.
