APDA blasts APC – Shelve 2019 Re-election Bid, focus on your Blurred Vision
A group of young Nigerian professionals under the aegis of The Young Leaders Forum of Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA YLF) has broken silence over the consistent lame excuses emanating from the twitter handle of The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) about the total national blackout experienced in the country in recent days.
The group said it was unfortunate that the government of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) lack leadership of purpose or perhaps the party was never prepared to govern the country.
The group while disclosing this in an interview with it’s National Spokesperson, Chief Olusanya Atofarati, said it was high time Nigerians stopped complaining about a government that cared less about the existence of her citizens.
Atofarati said; “There is no controversy over the ineptitude of the APC government. I will only advice Nigerians to ignore them and continue to manage with the use of Power Generating Set (Generator)until February 2019 when APDA will dislodge the inconsistent government of the APC-led.
” Prior to 2015 general elections, APC promised to generate 50,000 megawatts; in January 2017(2 years into the government), the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola SAN claimed that Nigeria’s power grid had risen to 7,200 megawatts; in October 2017, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo also said Nigeria’s power generation had risen above 7000 megawatts when what we generate in actual fact is far below 2,000 MW.
Nigerians should ignore the APC because they mean no well other than to continue to lie and put Nigerian people in a state of confusion. Our Forum will like to set the records straight and make it expressly clear to Nigerians that APC government has never done anything to improve power generation since it assumed office in 2015.”
As at December 2013, the total nameplate capacity of the power plants in Nigeria was 6,953 megawatts and as that time, The Presidential Task Force on Power’s Peak Demand forecast for April 2015 was put at 12,800MW but soon after APC government came on board, the power generation ridiculously dropped below 2,600MW in June 2016.
The only thing the party and it’s led government are now busy doing is campaigning towards reelection in 2019 rather than focus on retrieving it’s blurred vision. I maintain that there is no justification for this retrogression the APC government has led us.” Atofarati said.
