Ife Awkuzu Holds 2nd Annual Summit, Launched Obiora Agbata Education Trust Fund

Ife Awkuzu Development Association, on the 2nd January, 2024, held her second Ife Annual summit and launch of Obiora Agbata Education Trust.

The summit, which attracted dignitaries from different walks of life, had the theme: Human Capital Development, the Bedrock to Community Development. Filming the theme of the summit, in his lecture, Prof Ofornze Amucheazi SAN, Anambra State Commissioner for Lands, highlighted various forms of human development in relation to community development.

He elucidated the roles of different stakeholders in the public and private sectors in promoting sustainable community development. Contributing to the conversation,His Excellency, Mr Val OzIgbo, who also represented Mr Peter Obi stressed that human development will continue to elude the people until the government becomes deliberate in providing the enabling environment for the citizens to thrive. Charles M. Anikweze and the President General of Awkuzu Progressive Union, Chief Ejike Ogoegbunam (PhD), among other distinguished guests, echoed the importance of human capital in every community development initiatives and the need for such efforts to be targeted mainly at the youths.
The major highlight of summit was the launch of Obiora Agbata Education Trust Fund which is an initiative targeted at mobilizing financial resources to support indigent Awkuzuans who desire higher education but could not afford it due to economic challenges. The interventions by many distinguished guests, especially on the importance of promoting education, are consistent with the vision and objectives of the Ife Awkuzu Development Association to change the narrative about Awkuzu through education.
